Borrower's Policy
The Alfred Dickey Public Library is open to the general public, but only registered borrowers may take materials from the library. Library cards are issued upon completion of the formal application form, and are renewed every year.
All residents of Jamestown, including full-time Jamestown College students are allowed free borrowing privileges. Anyone paying property tax within city limits may have a library card without charge. Non-residents of Jamestown, who do not pay taxes on city property, must pay an annual fee of $15.00 for an Individual Card or a Family Card. This fee is waived for Alfred Dickey Public Library employees, their immediate family members, and Library Board members.
The parent or guardian as the responsible party must sign children's application cards. A child's card has the same restrictions concerning residency as adult cards. Children who have completed the 6th grade are issued an adult card.
The director reserves the right to discontinue service to anyone abusing the library privileges.
